Privacy Policy

We collect only what is needed to run the service and to answer the questions you ask us. There are two categories.

Information you give us

• Name and email address, when you create an account or submit an enquiry
• Phone number, when you request a counselling callback
• Academic details you choose to add — board, marks, stream, target exams and preferred locations
• Profile preferences such as budget range, saved colleges and shortlists
• Reviews and forum posts you publish on the platform

Information collected automatically

• Pages you visit and features you use on ColleZoo
• Browser type and version, and device information
• Referring website and approximate location derived from your IP address

• To provide the service — showing colleges, courses and exams, saving your shortlist, and generating recommendations from the preferences you set.
• To respond to enquiries — when you request counselling, we use your phone number and stated preferences to call you back about that enquiry.
• To keep accounts secure — detecting unauthorised access and preventing abuse.
• To improve the product — analysing which features are used, so we know what to fix and what to build.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share your contact details with institutions except where you explicitly ask us to pass on an enquiry.

Your information is shared only in these situations:

• Service providers who operate the platform on our behalf — hosting, email delivery, analytics and payment processing. They may process data only on our instructions.
• Institutions you enquire with, and only the details needed to respond to that enquiry.
• Legal obligations — where disclosure is required by applicable law or a valid legal request.

Account information is kept for as long as your account is active. Enquiry records are kept while we are handling your query and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can answer follow-up questions. When you ask us to delete your data, we remove it from our active systems and from backups on their normal rotation schedule.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on managed infrastructure with access limited to team members who need it to do their work. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. No system is perfectly secure, so if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

You can, at any time:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Object to or restrict certain processing

ColleZoo is used by school students researching higher education. If you are under 18, please use the service with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information without such involvement, contact us and we will remove it.

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the site before they take effect.
